Last weekend we jumped on the Long Island Railroad for a relaxing ride into the city to do some more exploring. Fun fact: the LIRR is the busiest commuter railroad in North America serving 83 million passengers a year. Wow. Taking the train on a Sat. proved to be relaxing, not crowded and Dave was pumped that he didn't have to deal with traffic in the city. Once we arrived our plans changed when we found out the unlimited daily metro pass is no longer available. :( We then decided to just check off some "must sees" within walking distance of Penn Station and have fun without the subway eating up our money. It turned out to be a kid friendly day as we ventured to Toys R Us in times square to ride the giant Ferris wheel and then onto F.A.O. Schwarz to play the little (big) piano. We also checked out the New York public library...beautiful! There we found the original Winnie the pooh and his original friends all locked up in a glass case. A quick stop for some NY pie, a peek into Grand Central terminal, and dinner and the lights of Times square to wrap up the day. No matter what we do we always LOVE NYC!
