Long Island Apple Festival

we started off the afternoon with a candied apple and popcorn.

followed up by some fishing for apples

a hayride around the farm

Apple cider was pressed right before our eyes in this very old and labor intensive press.

C took a spin at peeling his prized apple

Yesterday we enjoyed a beautiful almost fall day at the Long Island Apple Festival. It was a charming little colonial themed day at the historical Sherwood-Jayne farm. We even got to take a tour of the original house build in 1730. They have a very old apple orchard with some of the trees dating back over 100 years. We loved the fresh apples, apple fritters, and especially the fresh pressed apple cider. We also had our first candied apple and of course ended our day with an apple pie. Long live the apple!
