The Magic of Macy's

We were certainly not shopping alone on Sat. night.

taking a peek at the window displays

Our first stop after getting off the Long Island railroad was of course Macy's! We've taken several trips into the city, but hadn't made it into Macy's until now. I'm glad we saved it for Christmas time so we could see the store in all its splendor. We rode up and down the 10 1/2 levels of the world's largest department store, that takes up the entire city block, on the original wooden escalator. I learned that Macy's Herald Square was the first to put in the modern day escalator back in 1902. I can't even imagine how many people have rode up that old tiny escalator and am amazed that it still runs.
