Lighthouses

The Eaton's Neck Lighthouse is the second oldest lighthouse on Long Island and was constructed in 1798. The Coast Guard now watch over it and we were able to get a personal tour set up after Dave pulled some strings.

We had to use the camera zoom to catch this lighthouse in the Huntington Harbor. It replaced the Lloyd Harbor Lighthouse after it burned down in 1947

The Old Fieldpoint Lighthouse was constructed in 1868 and reminded me of my old elementary school building.

When Dave's Mom would visit us in FL we had a tradition of taking her to see lighthouses. During our years in FL we were able to show her 3 different lighthouses. Here on Long Island the tradition continues. In one day we were able to see all three of these very different looking lighthouses. There will be more to see for the next trip too since our island has 27 different lighthouses.
