We just had an amazing opportunity to join up with our dear friends and next door neighbors from FL to celebrate Michael's 50th birthday. His wife planned an elaborate secret birthday bash that allowed us to go on a 3 day cruise with them to the Bahamas. It was SUCH FUN to surprise Michael on the boat and then spend 3 terrific days with our friends we miss so much.
We did run into a tiny glitch with our travel plans, however. With the govt. shut down D was on the essential status so he was continuing to work, but without pay. All employees on that status were no longer allowed to take any kind of leave. Oh boy. Well, in the end D was able to go after jumping through a hoop and God allowing some key scheduling to take place prior to the trip. We had planned to fly to Orlando the day before the cruise left so I ended up flying down with the boys by myself and then D headed down after work and got in late the night before the cruise. We were able to enjoy some pool time at the hotel before we left the next day. I have a couple of water lovin' boys.
